In March 2014 Julia and Alex were expecting their first child.

Time was very much of the essence and they needed a London painter and decorator who could deliver within a tight time frame.

Seven and a half months pregnant Julia set about her search for a London painter and decorator online. Based close to City of London in Wapping in a very large property spanning 2 floors and overlooking the Thames they knew the size of the property meant their obvious deadline was going to be a challenge.

Following a site visit and colour consultation a competitive quote was quickly accepted subject to the promise that the ceilings, walls, windows and doors in 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 balconies, hall, stairway, landing and vast living-room and kitchen could all be completed within 10 working days. This may not sound an astounding feat, but the colour chosen for the walls was lighter than the existing colour meaning three, and in places four coats of paint were necessary.

Delighted to be set to work on such an impressive property the three most senior (experienced not that old) decorators set to work on the first Monday.(008).

To be perfectly honest I was a little concerned that Julia might be understandably a little stressed and perhaps stressful to work for given her advanced condition. This fear proved to be utterly unfounded. She really was one of the most relaxed and helpful clients we have ever worked for.

Together with her husband Alex they ensured all the rooms were cleared of small furniture and other objects before we had even arrived. A very tidy and charming couple.

All the woodwork was painted in a Farrow and Ball Eggshell. All F&B paints are water-based. Although high quality and a nice finish, inevitably as any London painter and decorator will tell you, the coverage is not quite as good as oil based undercoat and eggshell. Greener though and zero chance of any VOCs anywhere once the baby arrives.

Anyway I really am waffling on now. A healthy baby arrived safely a few days after we had completed the work, working through to nearly 9:00pm on the Saturday before the due date. Here are a few words from Alex:
