London Painter and Decorator's Tips on Types of Paints to Use

Enda

Enda was looking for a London Painter and Decorator to enhance his rather swish central London flat. He wanted a London Painter and Decorator who could offer advice on colour and types of paints to be used.

In the higher traffic areas such as the hall we selected a paint that is not only durable and wipeable, but also brings extra light into an area with less natural light. We chose Pacific Breeze, from the Dulux Light and Space range in a vinyl matt Dulux Trade finish.

In the dining and living area (large open plan room) and kitchen Enda was after white and green feature walls to accentuate various areas, such as the dining area. For the dining area we chose Dulux Overtly Olive in a vinyl matt finish using Kleenedge masking tape to produce a clinical finish.

As any London Painter and Decorator should be able to tell you, in a bathroom or kitchen an eggshell or silk finish is the norm. However the trade off with these paints whilst they are tough and problems caused by condensation for example can easily be wiped off, they do have a higher sheen. In Enda’s kitchen he definitely preferred a matt or very low sheen and as the kitchen was very well ventilated it was not a problem to continue with the Overtly Green vinyl matt. An alternative is also Dulux Trade Diamond matt for such areas.
